Last June I tried to do an 80-mile ride up to Gloucester and back, and made it about 70 before heat exhaustion did me in, causing my first DNF ever. Today, five weeks earlier in the season (and ten degrees cooler), I did that same ride and finished it. It was still quite a challenge, but I didn't hit the wall quite so hard this time, and it gave me a good sense of closure after last year's abandon.
