… as Inspector Gadget’s sidekick Penny would say.

It’s the end of June. Let’s review where I stand in terms of Pan-Mass Challenge training:

I just did my first back-to-back rides of the year. There are only four more weekends to prep for the Pan-Mass Challenge, and I’m out of town for one of them.

This weekend I did 70 + 60 = 130 miles. That’s the most I’ve rode in one week in the past ten and a half months. Since August 2007. Since last year’s PMC weekend, in fact.

I’ve ridden 532 miles in 2008. Only once in the past seven years have I had less than 1000 miles under my belt at the end of June. In fact, my average is 1400 miles, and I’m at only 38 percent of that.

Aside from those facts, I’m not too worried. I’ve still got four weeks, and I can see myself getting stronger each week. I’ll get there. And in a way it’s nice, because I (hopefully) won’t have grown tired of riding from too much time in the saddle.

The fundraising, too, is going pretty good. I still have a lot more stuff to do, including an article for my condo’s newsletter and the big announcement for my coworkers, who will probably constitute a healthy percentage of my sponsorship. I don’t know if I’ll make last year’s $10,000 mark, but I’m pretty confident about the $6,700 Heavy Hitter threshhold. But time’ll tell.
